Dermabrasion removes a layer of surface skin to improve the appearance of facial scarring due to acne, chicken pox, injury or other causes, as well as uneven pigmentation, wrinkles, sun damage, tattoos, age spots and certain kinds of skin lesions. The skin is frozen, typically with a spray, and then abraded with a high-speed rotary instrument for a dramatically smoother, fresher look. After the procedure it is normal to feel a sensation similar to sunburn for a week or so, at which time most patients are able to return to work. The newly revealed skin will likely appear pinker than usual for two to three months. Patients should be sure to adequately protect skin from sunlight.
BOTOX® Cosmetic is commonly used to reduce or eliminate the appearance of facial wrinkles. It is injected under the skin into areas surrounding the eyes, forehead and mouth to smooth crow's feet, frown and worry lines, and lines on the neck. Made from a purified protein, BOTOX® relaxes wrinkles and gives the face a rejuvenated look. BOTOX® may also be useful for migraine headaches, excessive sweating, and eye and neck muscle spasms.
As we age, our skin begins to lose its fullness, and sagging, wrinkling and hollowing occur. These changes and other effects of aging can be improved through the use of injectable fillers. These treatments, often made from collagen, hyaluronic acid gel and other natural substances, are injected directly into the skin to restore fullness and smooth out wrinkles and other fine lines. The injected substance supports the skin and restores the volume lost over time.
Injectable fillers can be used to treat the cheeks, eyes, mouth, brow, chin nose and any other area of the face that may be affected by aging. The results are often visible immediately and continue to improve over several months. Many of the specific treatments have been approved by the FDA and are considered safe procedures with little to no side effects.
Chemical peels remove damaged outer layers of skin on the face, hands, neck and chest to smooth texture, reduce scarring and remove blemishes and pre-cancerous growths to produce healthy, glowing skin. There are three different types of chemical peels: alphahydroxy acids (AHAs), tricholoroacetic acid (TCA) and phenol. They range in strength from mild to strong and are each designed to provide different results, depending on a patient's skin condition.
Scar revision is performed to reduce the appearance of scars caused by injury or previous surgery. While many scars fade over time and eventually transform to become barely noticeable, many patients experience disruptions to the healing process that causes scars to become red, raised, indented or otherwise deformed.
Many patients are unhappy and embarrassed by the appearance of these scars, especially when they are located in prominent areas, and seek treatment to improve them. We provide comprehensive scar revision services to help patients achieve smooth, clear skin that they no longer have to be ashamed of.
Most cases of skin cancer can be successfully and thoroughly removed through an excision procedure that removes the entire tumor and any roots. Despite its high level of efficiency, skin cancer excision often leaves behind large wounds or scars in prominent areas such as the face or hand. These deformities can be emotionally upsetting and a constant reminder of the skin cancer that once existed there. Fortunately, plastic surgery can be performed to repair the wound and restore your skin to a more healthy and natural appearance.
Reconstruction can often be performed the same day or the day after the removal procedure. Reconstructive procedures are performed on an individualized basis, depending on each patient's wound, and can involve a skin graft, flap of skin, stitching or surgical closure.
While complete tumor resection is the main goal, Dr. Khuthaila also takes your appearance into consideration by leaving as much healthy tissue as possible. Reconstruction uses this remaining healthy tissue to carefully restore the area for both effective and aesthetic results.
